Help the planet and improve your health

Sustainable products are an important aspect of a healthy, vital lifestyle. That is our vision, which fortunately is shared by more and more people worldwide.

It is not without reason that the United Nations has named spirulina to be one of the best food sources for the future.

Spirulina is not only super nutritious, but also super durable.

Sustainable source of protein

Today, we obtain our essential amino acids mainly from meat. However, we all agree that the production of meat puts enormous pressure on the planet.

So, one of the best ways to combat climate change is to reduce our meat consumption.

Spirulina is an excellent alternative way to get our daily amount of essential amino acids.

Save precious land

Spirulina is one of the only food sources - except meat - that contains essential amino acids.

Chickpeas, quinoa and soy also have a good amino acid profile. But these crops require huge amounts of land and water. Just think of the deforestation in the Amazon for planting soy.

Spirulina, on the other hand, contains twice as many proteins per gram and requires much less land and water. Even the little water that leaves our basins is used in our organic vegetable garden.

Less water consumption

Despite being aquaculture, spirulina consumes much less water than any other crop. A kilogram of spirulina requires less than 500 litres of water. Let’s compare: a kilogram of rice needs 3,500 litres of water. For beef, you consume the dizzying amount of 15,000 litres per kilogram.

Complete plant

In traditional crops, only part of the plant is used, although a lot of energy is required to grow the whole plant. In spirulina, EVERYTHING is used. The entire biomass is consumed.

A recent report shows that in certain cases up to 40% of the fruit and vegetable crop is destroyed because they are "ugly". Our algae are not subjected to a fashion show.

100 % pure nature

Chemical products are often used in the cultivation of crops and animals, such as pesticides, herbicides and antibiotics that can be found throughout our food chain.

None of this is used in the cultivation of our spirulina. Our algae grow in a purely natural way, without using chemicals. Our spirulina is harvested naturally.

Reduced carbon emission

Spirulina is a cyanobacterium that does photosynthesis. It uses sunlight to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen.

Given our tropical climate, we never have to heat our greenhouses. There is zero carbon emission.

Local impact

With our farm we provide employment in a remote rural area. Our employees receive fair wages, which is why we contribute to improving living standards, in the local community.

Recyclable packaging

Spirulina packaging must meet strict requirements in order to optimally preserve the nutrients. For example, it should be stored airtight and out of the reach of sunlight (UV). We have sought as much as possible to use recyclable packaging without compromising on quality.

For example, we use a recyclable glass bottle and bamboo lid. The lid has a rubber edge to seal it airtight. The glass bottle can be refilled with a refill package.

We have made the box so beautiful you never want to throw it away and will continue to use it.

For the refill pack we had to choose an aluminum foil, because this is the only material that meets the light and air barrier specifications. The advantage is that it is very light and the refill bags are packed per 3 in a recyclable cardboard box. We will continue to talk to suppliers who are working on a compostable bag that is light and airtight.

Discover our sustainable sprinkles

Spirulina sprinkles are the purest form of this incredible microalgae. Sprinkles do not undergo any form of industrial processing - as is the case with powders and pills. Due to natural growth and our unique low temperature drying method, we can supply spirulina of a superior quality.
