The antioxidant effect of spirulina is mainly attributed to the presence of the two phycobiliproteins in the algae: phycocyanin and allophycocyanin. Spirulina is a natural source of vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, B12, C, E and K. As a result, they are easily absorbed by the body. Unique to spirulina is the substance phycocyanin that gives this alga its typical blue-green colour. This powerful antioxidant stimulates the immune system. Finally, the algae is rich in minerals: phosphorus, magnesium, chromium, iron, zinc, potassium, selenium, copper and calcium. Spirulina really contains all the essential nutrients we need.
